Shark RV1001AE IQ
This budget self-emptying robot does an okay job on hard floors and low-pile carpet. The combo brush can reach into corners and edges and it automatically boosts suction when it senses carpet. It also is effective in cleaning dirt that is embedded in mid-pile carpet. The IQ's compact footprint for docks and the self-emptying feature are both nice features. However, if you wish to alter the floor level on the map or create no-go zones you'll have to manually reset it to do this, which is a bit of trouble.
The IQ's application has advanced mapping and automation capabilities however, it's not able to access no-go zones that are available on iRobot models. The smart-pathing technology allows for greater maneuverability and the high-pile feature of its carpet cleaning mode is efficient, although it can get stuck on rug tassels.
During our tests, we observed that the IQ handled pet hair well. It was able to get rid of lots of debris on floors that were unfinished and a good amount of medium-pile rug. It was a little less effective on shag carpets which was a struggle to reach dirt and dust buried in the fibers. It was able to maneuver the legs of chairs, small spaces, and even the base of an IKEA here wooden step stool. We did notice it was a bit slower on floors with no flooring however it soon recovered speed and performed better than the other robots we tested.
The IQ is a better option over the iRobot Roomba 694 for most uses. It has a larger dustbin and lasts longer on charge and does a better job of moving itself over obstacles. It also has mopping attachments that are able to tackle sticky debris. On the other hand, the iRobot feels better-built and has fewer parts that require replacement or maintenance, incurs lower recurring costs and can even create virtual no-go zones with its companion app. It can even restart the cleaning process from where it left off if it runs out of battery before having completed the task. The iRobot can also be controlled using voice commands, which is a major benefit for many users.
Eufy 11S
The eufy RoboVac 11S robot vacuum isn't one of the most feature-rich models, but it offers excellent cleaning power for affordable prices. It's designed for those who don't require a complicated mapping system or an app to control the device. The robot is capable of running for a long time and comes with an remote, cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base, and additional filters.
The 11S is slim and sleek with a tempered glass upper deck that is covered with plastic, which is finished to appear like brushed aluminum. It's a nice aesthetic different from Roomba, Samsung, and Neato designs that are more industrial and utilitarian.
The eufy11S did well in our tests at removing larger particles and fine dust from hard floors. It was unable to thoroughly clean carpets with high and medium piles. The device has a tendency to hit furniture and people along its course. However, it is able detect these obstacles using sensors. It stops and emits a loud ring when it encounters an obstruction. Then, you can manually guide the device around it and return it to working.
Another excellent feature of the eufy 11S is its BoostIQ mode that allows you to set the robot to automatically adjust the strength of its suction to match the floor type and the level of the mess. The remote control makes it easy to direct the 11S to your desired area.
If you don't have many furniture in the space where you want to vacuum, Single Room Mode is an excellent alternative. The eufy can spend 30 minutes focusing on cleaning the area that it's assigned.
Edge Cleaning is another option that can limit the time spent on each area to just 20 minutes. This will maximize battery life. This option allows the eufy to move in a spiraling manner by cleaning edges and corners.
Miele Complete C1
The Miele Complete C1 canister robot is a top mid-priced vacuum cleaner that excels on carpet. Its performance is also excellent on bare floors. It can remove rice and other fine debris effortlessly. The suction power doesn't diminish as the dirt bin gets full. Its air-sealed design and allergy-friendly design capture allergens, keeping your family healthy. It has an onboard HEPA filter and a self-emptying dustbin, which means you won't need to purchase additional filters or a separate bag for your vacuum.
It's not as powerful as pricier models, but it's great for tackling staining and deep cleaning. It has two cameras on the front which provide live feeds to your smartphone.
